Our History
Isabelle DeGaynor had always been passionate about engaging with local communities and serving others and, in recent years, had become frustrated with the lack of community engagement from churches as a whole. In early 2021, the Lord called Isabelle to start a Christian organization at the University of Michigan Ann Arbor centered around serving others in the community. She sought council from Jordan Vinh, a close friend and brother in Christ. He, too, felt the Lord calling him to be a part of this organization, which he and Isabelle decided to name Redefined. Together, they crafted the vision and structure for the organization, forming the first drafts of Redefined's constitution. However, they soon realized that neither of them possessed enough experience or practical knowledge to start taking concrete steps towards their goals. They turned to Emi Yuki, a trusted friend and someone with a wealth of experience in the process and technicalities of beginning and running a student organization. With Emi's skillset, the trio was able to start moving forward with their calling, and on June 7, 2021, Redefined was established as an official student organization at the University of Michigan. Isabelle became its first President, Jordan its first Vice President, and Emi its first Secretary and Treasurer. Together, they formed Redefined's first Executive Board.
