Details

If you’re passionate about lifting up and building relationships with those struggling with homelessness, the shelter ministry team would love to have you! We partner with Mercy House. Mercy House - a home rooted in the Catholic Worker movement - provides temporary housing, weekly meals, and other services to those in need. There are several opportunities to serve there- Mondays from 5:30-8:30 for Monday family dinner, Wednesdays from 5:30-8:30 for Wellness Wednesday, and Saturdays 12-2 for the tail-end of Saturday brunch - and tasks range from cooking food to sitting on the porch and conversing with the community. Those serving at Winter (Start of November to End of March) Daytime Warming Shelter will be engaging with both the homeless and the shelter staff, providing meals, and doing whatever housekeeping tasks are needed. If you’re interested or have any questions, feel free to email one of our shelter ministry team leads, Levi Mowers at lmowers@umich.edu or Jadon Sterken at jsterken@umich.edu.
